Current Classic

Homeowners: Michelle & Beck
Remodel Location: Plymouth, MI
Project Scope: Remodel kitchen and bath, install luxury vinyl tile (LVT) flooring throughout the first floor.

Key Features

  • Removed soffits for a more modern aesthetic: Eliminating the 1970s soffits opened up the space, allowing upper cabinets to reach the ceiling and creating a taller, more expansive feel.
  • Stunning hickory cabinets: The warm stain and chocolate glaze highlight the natural grain and unique character of the hickory wood, adding richness and texture.
  • Blanco apron-front sink: The Metallic Gray Silgranite sink pairs beautifully with black stainless appliances, antique nickel hardware, and the soft tones of the quartz countertop.
  • Charming bath design with custom features: An antique-style cast iron wall-mount sink adds personality, while custom-built cubbies and a large linen cabinet maximize functionality where an unused shower once stood.

Design Insight

This kitchen and bath transformation checks all the boxes for stylish, on-trend design. Removing the soffits was the first step toward creating a brighter, more open kitchen. The homeowners chose a chic two-tone cabinetry scheme, with crisp white uppers and rich hickory bases, achieving a balance of light and warmth. A spacious island features elegant carved legs, providing ample storage, generous prep space, and a sleek drawer microwave for convenience. Thoughtful upgrades like a pot filler over the range and retro globe pendant lighting elevate both function and style.

In the bath, the homeowners opted for a vintage-inspired look, incorporating a cast-iron wall-mount sink and custom-built storage to make the most of the space while adding a playful touch of character.
